What else do I need?

Ok I recently started acquiring weapons for the impending doom. My objective is to have a diverse selection of weapons available. I know I need more, but I also need advice.

Walther P22
Winchester Wildcat 22lr
S&W M60 .357 Mag w/ Adj FLRZ sights
Springfield Armory XD 40 w/ night sights
Mosin Nagant (scoped w/bipod)
Yugo SKS 59/66 (scoped)
Mossberg 500 fully rifled barrel & 24" barrel
Weatherby Vanguard 7MM Mag (scoped)

Ammo! You seem to have a good selection of firearms. Are you solo, or do you also intend to arm other family members? At any rate, if you're not already acquiring lots of ammo, it's time to start.

(1) Glock G20 (10mm). Very versatile ammo.
(2) Crossbow (with scope).
(3) Claymore mines (if you can get them). But seriously, some type of perimeter defense/warning. Flash-bangs or trip flares.
(4) CS grenades. Just make sure you've got working gas masks and filters.

Looks like you know what you're talking about. I might add if you have the cash, and ability a .416 ( If in cali) or Barrett .50 if you're in a legal state.

What do you plan to do with all of them?

Two weapons per individual is reasonable. I have nothing against collecting firearms, but we must remain grounded. We are NOT going to "make war" with the US Army, especially alone or even as a single family.

I'd say you have enough weapons. Now focus on ammunition, training, and outfitting them with all practical tactical gear (lasers, lights, comfortable stocks/grips, etc.).

Portman's concept of reasonable is clearly his business.
I think every able bodied citizen should own at least one each: 45 caliber auto pistol, and .308 self loading rifle.
If you can carry all of your ammunition in one trip, you are either one very big strong SOB, or you need more ammo.

Pump or semi shotgun. If you really want to make someone stop doing something at ranges you're likely to encounter (home and courtelages thereof) there's nothing like 00 buck. Also works well against people wearing BA (via blunt force trauma) or in vehicles.

I have read that this is a myth, and there is not a single recorded incidence of a such a death.

My Mossberg 500 is a pump shotgun with a rifled slug barrel and a regular 24' barrel.

Go ahead and start to put together some simple LBE (load bearing equipment) for your fighting and living load...

ALICE and MOLLE systems can be integrated to fit any need you may have.

also BE SURE YOU HAVE SEVERAL GAS MASKS, CHEM-SUITE AND FILTERS. TPTB are going to use chemical agents when the time comes. This will provide a layer of protection so you can CONTINUE TO USE YOU WEAPONS should they try to bug spray you.

Also may want to pickup some POTASSIUM NITRATE so you can make your own smoke grenades.

They can't fade us... Its like trying to choke out a plume of smoke. We will disperse and re-group to deal FATAL blows from every and all sides.:36_1_28:

How is this inconsistent with what I wrote?

Severe blunt force trauma from 12 gauge slug will take anyone wearing body armor out of the fight, whether they die or not...

Good selection of "survival" weapons so far, so next purchase save your $$$ for an AR-15. 5.56 or .223 ammo will be widely available, the rifle can fill multiple roles, and you can actually replace/work on most parts with simple hand tools. Its also one of the most ergonomic rifles ever created, and will soon become your "go to" rifle for almost everything.

Since you've already got the Yugo SKS, I'd recommend a AK-47, minimize ammo types. Other than that, I'd say you're good to go.

I would add an AK.

I have used m4s and m16s extensively in the Army, and think they are kind of "needy" weapons, you are probably right about the ammo. They do have some upsides like accuracy, and ease of use.

I just hate the fact that they need cleaned so much, and after so little use.

After about 250 - 300 rounds they start to have ejection problems. However, most of the weapons I used had been used extensively so I cannot speak for the one owner rifles that most of the public is used to.

They also do not take well to dust, dirt, sand, et cetera. Any deterious pretty much disables effective use of a m16 or m4.
